The Naira appreciated against the United States dollar at the official market on Wednesday — the first gain recorded in three days.
According to exchange rate data published by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), the Naira strengthened to ₦1,470.62 per dollar, up slightly from ₦1,471.09 on Tuesday. This reflects a modest daily gain of ₦0.47.
The local currency had earlier faced negative sentiment on Monday and Tuesday at the official foreign exchange market.
Meanwhile, at the parallel (black) market, the Naira held steady at ₦1,500 per dollar — the same rate recorded on Tuesday.
CBN data also showed that Nigeria’s external reserves, which play a key role in determining exchange rate stability, stood at $42.57 billion as of October 7, 2025.
