Air France has temporarily halted all flights to Madagascar amid escalating unrest and reports of a possible military uprising.
The airline announced on Sunday that it was suspending services between Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport and the capital, Antananarivo, until at least Tuesday, citing security concerns.
In a statement, Air France said the suspension would remain in effect “to October 13, 2025, inclusive,” while the situation continues to be assessed.
The decision follows growing instability in Madagascar after an army unit based on the outskirts of Antananarivo reportedly mutinied, declaring that it had taken control of all the country’s military forces.

The mutinous soldiers have aligned themselves with protesters calling for the removal of President Andry Rajoelina, who has condemned the events as an attempt “to seize power illegally.”
Air France told AFP that the suspension of flights, which began over the weekend, would be reviewed daily depending on developments on the ground.
Another carrier, Air Austral, also suspended its flights between Réunion Island and Madagascar on Saturday, although it confirmed that other services would continue on Sunday.
