Prince Andrew, the younger sibling of King Charles, has announced that he will relinquish his royal titles, including the Duke of York, amid ongoing allegations regarding his connection with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
In a statement issued by Buckingham Palace on Friday, Andrew said that after discussions with King Charles III and his close and extended family, it was determined that “the ongoing accusations about me overshadow the work of His Majesty and the royal family.”
“I will therefore no longer use my title or the honours which have been conferred upon me,” read the statement.
His former spouse, Sarah, Duchess of York, will also refrain from using her title, while their daughters, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, will keep their titles.

This decision follows accusations related to Andrew’s association with Epstein, as well as new revelations about his ties to a key figure linked to the China espionage case.
Andrew has raised concerns for his brother Charles after a troubling 2019 television interview where he defended his relationship with Epstein. Additionally, reports have surfaced indicating that Andrew had meetings in 2018 and 2019 with Cai Qi, a member of China’s ruling Politburo who was believed to be the recipient of confidential information allegedly provided to China by two British individuals accused of spying for Beijing, according to a report by the Guardian.
Andrew has already lost his military titles, charity affiliations, and has been prohibited from using the honorific “His Royal Highness.”
