The Chadian government has announced an immediate closure of its border with Nigeria, citing security issues after reports surfaced regarding supposed U.S. military operations in West Africa.

Military officials in N’Djamena confirmed on Monday that President Mahamat Idriss Déby Itno has ordered a complete military lockdown along the Nigerian border due to intelligence indicating that terrorist groups from northern Nigeria may try to escape into Chad.

According to officials, the Chadian military has been placed on high alert, with soldiers and armoured vehicles stationed along critical border routes linking the two nations.

The president was reported as saying that “no armed group or foreign entity will be permitted to enter Chad under any circumstances.”

This action is taken against the backdrop of heightened regional tensions and mounting speculation about America’s purported military operations in various parts of West Africa.

Security experts noted that the border closure serves as a proactive strategy to protect Chadian sovereignty and to prevent potential incursions by armed groups seeking to take advantage of the regional unrest.
