Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) midfielder Vitinha has billed Tuesday’s Champions League fixture against Bayern Munich as a clash between the continent’s two leading teams.
Speaking ahead of the match at the Parc des Princes, the Portuguese international said the encounter would reveal who currently holds the upper hand in European football.
PSG enter the contest defending their Champions League title and sit top of Ligue 1, having won all three of their matches in the competition’s league phase so far.
Bayern, though, have made an even stronger start to the season, winning 15 straight matches in all European fixtures—a new continental record—and are just behind the French champions in the standings.
“We are the two best teams in Europe. Bayern are in fantastic form. We’re also doing well, carrying on our momentum from last year,” Vitinha told reporters. He added that there would be no need for any further debate once the final whistle blows: “The answer will be given tomorrow. We have to talk on the pitch.”

The 25-year-old said these are the sort of fixtures every player wants to feature in, as the outcome inevitably shapes perceptions. “People will say, ‘This team is better because they won,’” he remarked.
PSG manager Luis Enrique struck a more cautious tone, arguing that it is too early in the campaign to claim supremacy.
He insisted true judgement must wait until the season’s conclusion, when trophies determine success. “Right now, it’s clear they are very strong… Incredibly, they have won their last 15 matches. We already have trouble winning three or four,” he admitted.
Despite Bayern’s perfect start, the Spanish coach encouraged supporters to maintain belief in his side, noting that PSG have still shown their quality even if they have dropped points in four of their 11 league matches.
He said the team remains confident of coping with Bayern’s aggressive pressing game in front of a home crowd.
“We deserve a little trust,” Luis Enrique said. “But tomorrow at the Parc des Princes with our supporters, we have the confidence we need to overcome them.”
