World champions South Africa have called up hooker Bongi Mbonambi and prop Ntuthuko Mchunu to their squad ahead of the final two matches of their European tour: the Autumn Nations Series Tests against Ireland and Wales.
Head coach Rassie Erasmus explained that the longer-than-usual tour and the upcoming difficulty of the matches necessitated the extra depth.
The reinforcements are also needed because several players will be ineligible for the final Test against Wales due to the match falling outside the international window.

The addition of Mbonambi (a double World Cup winner) and Mchunu provides immediate cover and competition.
Mbonambi will vie with Johan Grobbelaar for a bench spot, assuming first-choice hooker Malcolm Marx returns to the starting lineup.
On the prop side, Mchunu will challenge Boan Venter for a spot on the bench, following the early departure of injured loosehead prop Ox Nche.
The Springboks face a tough challenge, particularly in Dublin, which has historically been a difficult venue for the team.
