Suspected bandits have struck again in Kwara State, abducting four rice farmers in Bokungi Village, Edu Local Government Area.
The incident occurred less than 24 hours after armed men attacked a church in Eruku, Ekiti LGA, killing two people and kidnapping several others.
According to Channels TV, sources said the latest abduction happened on Wednesday evening while the victims were working on their farms at the height of the harvest season.
A community source explained that the assailants stormed the area unexpectedly and encircled the farmers as they gathered their harvested rice.

“It has been confirmed that bandits struck again at Bokungi under the Lafiagi Emirate.
“Four people were abducted. Information is still emerging,” the source said.
Gunmen reportedly operated unchallenged for several minutes, coercing the farmers into nearby dense bush before transporting them to an undisclosed location.
Furthermore, community members revealed that escalating insecurity in Edu LGA has caused the abandonment of numerous farming settlements, as farmers are increasingly fearful of attacks during the harvest period, when they are at their most vulnerable in the fields.
Neither the Kwara State Police Command nor the state government has yet released an official statement concerning the incident.
