The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has arrested two suspected bandits and kidnapping kingpins during an operation in Kwara State.
The suspects detained are Abubakar Usman, alias Siddi “m,” 26, and Shehu Mohammadu, alias Gide “m,” 30, according to a statement released on Friday, December 26, by the force’s spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin.
“Both suspects were arrested in Komen–Masallaci village, Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State, at the time of arrest,” Hundeyin hinted.
According to Hundeyin, items recovered from the suspects include “one brand new Honda Ace 125 motorcycle, ₦500,000.00 cash, being unspent ransom money, and one AK-47 rifle with a magazine loaded with 20 rounds of live ammunition.”

He noted that the investigations showed that the motorcycle was bought with ransom money paid by the victims.
Preliminary findings revealed that the suspects are members of “a notorious banditry and kidnapping gang terrorising communities across Zamfara, Katsina, Niger, and Kwara States,” Hundeyin stated.
The policeman noted that “further findings indicate that the gang also doubles as suppliers of arms and ammunition to criminal elements.”
He said the suspects are “currently cooperating with investigators to enable the arrest of other members of the syndicate and recovery of additional weapons.”
The Force also recalled that one of the suspects, Abubakar Usman, was “recently identified as the individual seen in a viral video flaunting firearms and large sums of money on social media.”
