The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, has urged residents to embrace New Year resolutions that promote peaceful coexistence, unity, socio-economic renewal and improved security.

The monarch made the call in his New Year message released on Wednesday in Ibadan and signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Olugbemiga Ayoade.

Ladoja emphasised that unity and respect for Ibadan’s cultural values remain vital to achieving meaningful progress in all spheres of life.

“I call on both indigenes and residents to remain committed to the progress and unity of Ibadanland so that we can collectively build the modern Ibadanland of our aspirations,” he said.

He added that he had personally resolved to devote the rest of his life to serving God and humanity as a positive example to others.

The Olubadan also encouraged all traditional title holders in Ibadan to align with his vision of developing the city for the common good of its people.

He identified key priority areas to include strengthening security, urban renewal, tackling land grabbing, reviving dormant companies and preserving Yoruba cultural heritage.

The monarch further commended security agencies in Ibadanland and across Oyo State for their improved efforts in safeguarding lives and property before and during the festive period, while urging them to sustain and build on the gains recorded.
