The Lagos State Government has announced a temporary night-time traffic diversion on the Fadeyi–Donmanlong and Donmanlong–Ojuelegba routes to allow for the installation of truck-restriction barriers.
The Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, said the diversion will take effect from 10:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 10, to 6:00 a.m. on Sunday, January 11, 2026.
Osiyemi explained that the move forms part of the state’s wider traffic management and road safety strategy to reduce accidents and protect lives along the busy corridor.
He said officials will temporarily close the affected bridge sections during the installation, adding that the government deliberately scheduled the work overnight to minimise disruption to motorists and businesses.
During the diversion period, motorists travelling from Fadeyi Donmanlong Bridge or Ayilara towards Ojuelegba should use the service lane through Fadeyi, Jibowu, Empire, and Donmanlong, linking Barracks Road to their destinations.
The commissioner appealed for patience and cooperation from road users, noting that the truck barriers aim to curb reckless movements by heavy-duty vehicles, which have caused serious accidents in the area.
He warned that the state would not tolerate the vandalism or tampering with traffic infrastructure and said authorities would prosecute offenders.
Osiyemi reaffirmed the government’s commitment to improving road safety across Lagos and urged motorists to obey traffic rules and protect public facilities installed for the common good.
