Burkina Faso has dismissed head coach Brama Traore and his entire technical staff following the team’s elimination from the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) by rivals Ivory Coast.
The president of the Burkina Faso Football Federation, Oumarou Sawadogo, said the decision was taken after performances at the continental tournament fell well short of expectations.
He added that the outcome was particularly disappointing, noting that the team had targeted at least a semi-final finish.

Burkina Faso, who also failed to qualify for this year’s World Cup, were knocked out after a 3-0 defeat by defending champions Ivory Coast in Marrakesh last Monday.
The Stallions recorded group-stage victories over Sudan and Equatorial Guinea but also suffered a loss to Algeria.
Traore, 63, was appointed in March 2024 after replacing French coach Hubert Velud, who was dismissed following a last-16 exit at the previous Africa Cup of Nations.
