The driver, Abdul Amukama, a 45-year-old man from Makurdi, sustained a gunshot wound to his right hand.

Preliminary investigations revealed that suspected kidnappers forcibly took two of the nine passengers into the bush before troops arrived at the scene.

Following the attack, troops of the 6 Brigade immediately launched an intensive search-and-rescue operation across the area to secure the release of the abducted victims.

The operation remains ongoing, with soldiers maintaining pressure on the criminals.

Meanwhile, authorities evacuated the injured driver to the Federal University Wukari Teaching Hospital, where he is receiving treatment. Security personnel have also recovered the affected vehicle and placed it in safe custody.

Reacting to the incident, the Commander of 6 Brigade Nigerian Army and Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke, Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, commended the troops for their swift and professional response.

He reassured the public of the brigade’s commitment to protecting lives and property.

Uwa urged motorists and residents to continue their lawful activities without fear and called on the public to provide timely and credible information to security agencies to support ongoing operations.
