Tension arose at a ward collation centre in Garki, Abuja, during the Federal Capital Territory Area Council elections, following a dispute over the declaration of councillorship results.
The incident occurred at Government Secondary School, Garki, where party agents confronted officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission(INEC), alleging a lack of transparency in the collation process.

The agents said they were allowed to verify and endorse results for the chairmanship election, but were denied the same access for the councillorship results. This led to heated exchanges, as the aggrieved representatives argued that the process fell short of acceptable electoral standards.
Across the Federal Capital Territory, about 1.68 million registered voters were expected to cast their ballots at 2,822 polling units, supported by 4,345 BVAS machines. INEC also accredited 88 domestic and international observer groups to monitor the exercise.
