Swiss International Air Lines announced on Sunday that it is extending the suspension of all flights to and from Dubai through March 4, citing the “ongoing tense situation” across the Middle East.
The airline, a subsidiary of the Lufthansa Group, also confirmed that services to Tel Aviv will remain grounded until at least March 8.
The decision follows a weekend of heavy military escalation, including U.S. and Israeli strikes on Iran and subsequent retaliatory attacks across the Gulf.
The flight disruptions include strict new rules regarding regional airspace. Until March 4, the Swiss flag carrier will entirely avoid the airspace of the United Arab Emirates.
Furthermore, the airline will bypass the skies over Israel, Lebanon, Jordan, Iraq, Iran, Kuwait, and Bahrain through March 8. These precautions are designed to ensure the safety of passengers and crew as commercial flight corridors become increasingly volatile due to ongoing missile exchanges.
To assist affected travellers, SWISS is offering full refunds or the option to rebook for a later date at no additional cost.
The airline had previously cancelled its weekend services as the conflict intensified, but the new announcement signals a longer-term concern for regional security.
Travellers are advised to check their flight status regularly as the carrier continues to monitor the “rapidly evolving” military landscape.
This move mirrors similar actions taken by other major international carriers as they navigate the heightened risks of operating in Middle Eastern skies.
