At least eight individuals lost their lives on Thursday following the collapse of a four-storey building in the southern Brazilian city of Belo Horizonte.
The structure served multiple purposes, housing a nursing home, several apartments, and a cosmetic clinic.
At the time of the early morning disaster, 29 people were reported to be inside the building.
Emergency responders, supported by rescue dogs, are currently scouring a massive heap of debris consisting of iron beams, dirt, and shattered walls.
While the search continues for four people still missing under the rubble, eight survivors—including a two-year-old boy—have been successfully pulled from the site.

Additionally, nine other occupants managed to flee the collapsing structure either independently or with assistance from nearby neighbours.
The exact cause of the catastrophe remains under investigation by local authorities.
Despite the structural failure, a spokesperson for the Minas Gerais state fire department noted that the building was in possession of all required legal permits at the time of the incident.
