Air raid sirens echoed throughout Israel early Sunday morning as the military warned of several waves of incoming missiles launched from Iran.

Residents in major urban centres, including Tel Aviv, Haifa, and Beersheba, were ordered to seek immediate cover in shelters and safe rooms.

According to the Israel Defence Forces (IDF), air defence systems engaged at least four distinct volleys of fire over five hours.

While the intense barrage triggered widespread alerts, the military later confirmed that most projectiles were successfully intercepted, with no immediate reports of casualties or significant structural damage.

The Home Front Command has since lifted the emergency orders, permitting citizens to leave protected spaces.

This latest escalation follows a week of direct conflict that began on February 28, 2026, which has claimed lives on both sides and seen repeated drone and missile strikes from Iran-backed groups in Lebanon.

The situation remains volatile as the regional war enters its second week.

Israeli media reports indicate that while the defensive response was effective, the persistent nature of the aerial campaign continues to disrupt daily life across the country.

Meanwhile, the IDF has vowed to maintain “full force” in its retaliatory strikes against Iranian military infrastructure.
