Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency have arrested a former councillor from the Orimedu area of Ibeju-Lekki, Sheleru Sadiq, over alleged possession of illegal drugs.

According to the NDLEA spokesperson, Femi Babafemi, Sadiq was arrested on March 2 at his residence in Lagos State.

In a statement released on Sunday, Babafemi said NDLEA operatives recovered 40 kilograms of skunk — a strain of cannabis — from one of the rooms in the house. The agency also noted that Sadiq currently works as a legislative aide.
