Salah Announces Liverpool Exit

Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah has confirmed he will leave the club at the end of the 2025–26 season, bringing an end to a defining nine-year spell at Anfield. The announcement marks the close of one of the most impactful eras in the club’s modern history.

“Unfortunately, the day has come. This is the first part of my farewell. I will be leaving Liverpool at the end of the season.” he said in an emotional statement on X on Tuesday.

“I never imagined how deeply this club, this city, these people would become part of my life. Liverpool is not just a football club, it’s a passion, it’s a history, it’s a spirit.” he added, highlighting the cultural and emotional weight of his tenure beyond statistics and trophies.

Liverpool also confirmed the departure in an official statement, describing his time at the club as “illustrious” and noting that a formal celebration of his legacy will take place later in the year when he bids farewell to Anfield.

During his time with the club, Salah has been central to a period of sustained success, helping Liverpool secure major honours including the Premier League, UEFA Champions League, FA Cup, FIFA Club World Cup, and FA Community Shield.

Salah’s career trajectory spans multiple European leagues. After starting in Egypt with El Mokawloon Al Arab, he moved to FC Basel, where he won two league titles, before spells at Chelsea FC, ACF Fiorentina, and AS Roma. His move to Liverpool FC in 2017 proved transformative for both the player and the club.

Internationally, Salah has been a key figure for Egypt national football team, reaching two Africa Cup of Nations finals. He also recently became the first African player to score 50 goals in the UEFA Champions League.

With over 327 career goals, including 255 for Liverpool, Salah leaves behind a statistical and cultural legacy that places him among the club’s all-time greats.
