Hajiya Umma El-Rufai, the mother of former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, has passed away.
Her death was announced on Friday by her grandson in a Facebook post, where he disclosed that she died a few hours earlier.
He stated that the family received the news with submission to God, noting that she lived a fulfilling life.
“Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un. From Allah SWT we came and to Him we shall all return. I would like to inform the public of the demise of my Grandmother, Hajiya Umma El-Rufai, who passed away a few hours ago,” he said.
The family expressed gratitude for her life and prayed for eternal rest, urging well-wishers to support them with prayers during the period of mourning.
As of the time of filing this report, details surrounding the cause of her death were yet to be made public.
The development comes as ongoing legal proceedings involving El-Rufai continue, with the former governor currently in the custody of the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission following his re-arrest after an earlier detention by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.
