Nigeria’s aviation minister, Festus Keyamo (SAN), has called on domestic airlines to maintain their flight schedules and resist raising ticket prices despite a dramatic spike in jet fuel costs.

In a formal appeal sent to the airline operators of Nigeria, the minister acknowledged the significant financial strain carriers are currently facing but emphasised the need for restraint to prevent broader economic instability across the country.

The government is actively seeking a resolution to the crisis and has organised an emergency meeting in Abuja on April 22.

This high-level discussion will bring together regulators and industry stakeholders to develop a sustainable solution to the fuel price surge.

The ministry remains committed to finding a prompt way to support the aviation sector while protecting passengers from sudden fare hikes or travel disruptions.
