The Plateau State Government on Wednesday charged five suspects arrested by the Department of State Services (DSS) over the March 2026 killings in Angwa-Rukuba.

Authorities confirmed that operatives of the DSS arrested the suspects between April 3 and 10, 2026, before charging them with offences including criminal conspiracy to commit terrorism.

The accused—among them Isa Umar Ibrahim, Auwalu Abubakar (also known as Auwalu Dogo), and Musa Abubakar Ibrahim (also known as Yaroro)—allegedly planned, organised and financed the attack that resulted in the deaths of more than 30 people.

According to the State Attorney General, Philemon Daffi, the charges were brought under Sections 269 and 270 of the Plateau State Penal Code Law, 2017.

Prosecutors also charged another suspect, Adamu Isa Alhassan, with additional offences, including culpable homicide, unlawful possession of firearms, and illegal dealing in arms and ammunition. They accused him and others of carrying out armed attacks on communities in Riyom and Jos South local government areas.

The move forms part of renewed efforts by the state to prosecute those linked to recent violence. The attacks, which occurred on March 28, left at least 30 people dead, including children, after assailants targeted communities in Bokkos and Bassa.

Governor Caleb Mutfwang condemned the killings, describing them as attempts to destabilise the state, while insisting that normal life must continue.

President Bola Tinubu visited Plateau State, met victims, and assured residents that authorities would ensure justice and restore lasting peace.
