The Kebbi State Government has dissolved the Governing Council of Abdullahi Fodio University of Science and Technology, Aliero (AFUSTA), and terminated the appointments of several top officials.
Effective April 30, 2026, the vice-chancellor and both deputy vice-chancellors—responsible for academics and administration—have been relieved of their duties.
Additionally, the university’s registrar and bursar were removed, and the appointment of staff member Abba Muhammad Adua was terminated.
This sweeping overhaul was prompted by findings from a visitation panel tasked with reviewing the institution’s management.
While the State Executive Council approved these actions based on the panel’s recommendations, the specific details of the findings have not been made public.
The secretary to the state government, Alhaji Yakubu Bala-Tafida, noted that the panel was commended for its thorough work in guiding the administration’s decision.
To manage the transition, Professor Samaila Arzika Mungadi has been appointed as the university’s sole administrator.
Mungadi is tasked with stabilising the school’s governance and restoring its academic integrity while overseeing operations until a new governing council and principal officers are formally appointed.
