Nigeria’s Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shuaibu, arrived in Maiduguri on Saturday, just two days after President Bola Tinubu instructed security agencies to dismantle all criminal hideouts and secure the release of all abducted citizens nationwide.
Shuaibu landed in the Borno State capital around 11:00 a.m. to conduct high-level operational meetings with theatre, field, and unit commanders deployed across the region.
The army chief’s strategic visit follows directives issued by President Tinubu during a high-level security meeting at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

Defence Minister Christopher Musa confirmed that the president commanded service chiefs to dismantle all insurgent strongholds and ensure public safety ahead of upcoming general elections.

Highlighting the urgency of the presidential mandate, Defence Minister Musa outlined the explicit instructions given to security leadership.
“The directive from the President is that all of us must go all out to fish out and rescue all those who have been abducted or kidnapped, wherever they are,” Musa stated. “There shouldn’t be any camp of any terrorists or bandits anywhere in Nigeria.”
