JAMB Drops UTME Requirement for Some Courses

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced that candidates seeking admission into Education programmes and Agriculture non-Engineering courses will no longer be required to sit for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

JAMB made the announcement on Monday during its 2026 Policy Meeting.

The meeting, chaired by the Minister of Education, is considering and adopting guidelines for the 2026 admission exercise.

“Candidates seeking admissions into Education Programs and Agriculture non-Engineering Courses are now exempted from UTME,” JAMB said.

“At the meeting, guidelines for the 2026 admission exercise into all tertiary institutions in Nigeria will be considered and adopted, including the determination of the minimum tolerable scores for admissions,” Benjamin said on Sunday.
