A pilot and three German passengers have died after their small plane crashed in Namibia’s Sossusvlei desert, a popular tourist destination, the aircraft charter company said on Monday.
The Cessna 210 plane went missing on Sunday and was located around 9:15 am on Monday, according to Desert Air CEO Willem de Wet.
“The wreckage of the aircraft was located around 9:15 am this morning. Unfortunately, there are no survivors,” de Wet said.
He added that next of kin had been informed.

“We extend our deepest and most sincere condolences to the families, friends, and loved ones of those who lost their lives in this tragic accident,” he said.
The plane had set off from a private runway near Hosea Kutako International Airport, bound for a private lodge in Sossusvlei, an area known for its imposing ochre-coloured sand dunes.
The company said an investigation was under way into the cause of the crash. Sossusvlei is a popular tourist destination in the former German colony of Namibia. It features a white salt-and-clay pan where dead Namib Desert trees appear frozen in time.
