Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume has been selected as the All Progressives Congress (APC) consensus candidate for the Borno South Senatorial seat ahead of the 2027 general elections.
According to a post shared on Ndume’s official Facebook account on Monday, his candidacy was reaffirmed in a ceremony held in Biu, which saw a large turnout from party members, stakeholders, youths, women groups, and supporters across Southern Borno.
During his visit to Biu, Ndume first paid a courtesy call on the Emir of Biu, seeking royal blessings and informing the monarch of his affirmation by APC leaders and stakeholders.
Speaking at the palace, the senator described Biu as home and stressed the importance of traditional institutions in promoting peace, unity, and development.
“A good son always returns home after a while. Your Royal Highness, I am back home for your blessings,” Ndume said.
Also, Ndume affirmed his commitment to supporting agriculture and food security in Borno South as the farming season approaches.
“We will continue to ensure that our farmers receive fertilizer and agricultural support on time,” he said.
He explained that a community-based support scheme introduced last year helped farmers access subsidised fertiliser directly from major suppliers through local government arrangements.
According to the senator, the initiative was first implemented in Chibok and will be expanded to benefit more farmers across the senatorial district.
