The All Progressives Congress (APC) has declared Caleb Mutfwang the winner of its governorship primary election held in Plateau State.
The result was announced on Friday night at the party secretariat in Jos by Fidelis Mnyim, chairman of the APC committee for the Plateau governorship and House of Assembly primaries.
According to the committee, Mutfwang secured victory across all 17 local government areas of the state, defeating his only opponent, retired military officer Yilcini Jan Bida.
“The total number of votes scored by Barrister Caleb Mutfwang from the 17 Local Government Areas of the state is 233,335, while Chief Yilcini Jan Bida scored a total of 3,070 votes,” the returning officer said.

He added, “Therefore, Mutfwang, having satisfied the requirements of the APC constitution and guidelines and having scored the highest number of votes, is hereby declared elected and returned as the governorship candidate of Plateau State.”
The APC state chairman, Rufus Bature, commended the electoral committee for what he described as a free, fair, and transparent exercise. Bature stated that the party will now focus on building support across the state ahead of the official start of campaigns.
