President Bola Tinubu was present at the All Progressives Congress presidential primary held in Ikoyi, Lagos State, on Saturday, as party members across the country turned out to affirm the party’s candidate for the 2027 election.
The president, accompanied by First Lady Oluremi, participated in the exercise, which he described as peaceful and well-organised.
“It has been going very well according to plan,” Tinubu told reporters after voting.

“This is politics, grassroots politics where every member of the party has a right to participate and be involved. This is to ensure that we have an internal democracy. And it’s peaceful, and well-organised.”
The primary was held simultaneously across all states of the federation on Saturday, May 23, 2026.
Tinubu faces Stanley Osifo, who also purchased the nomination form, in the contest for the party’s presidential ticket.
