The Nasarawa State Police Command apprehended two individuals in Keffi Local Government Area for suspected criminal conspiracy, trespass, theft, and unauthorised possession of guns.

Ramhan Nansel, the Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed the arrest in a statement issued Sunday in Lafia, characterising it as a significant step forward in ongoing efforts to clear the state of criminal groups.

According to him, the incident occurred on Saturday at 10:30 a.m., when a resident of Keffi filed a complaint with the Divisional Headquarters, alleging that one of the suspects unlawfully entered his room and took his Android phone.

The culprit is believed to have escaped with the phone when the victim rang the alarm.

Nansel added that detectives immediately initiated an intelligence-led operation, which resulted in the arrest of the main suspect and another male resident of Mayanka in Keffi.

During the search, police reportedly discovered various items, including a locally produced pistol loaded with a live cartridge, two cutlasses, a dagger, two Tecno Android phones, one Itel phone, a slew of keys, and other potentially incriminating materials.

According to the police, the suspects are still in jail while investigations are conducted to discover the extent of their involvement in other criminal operations.

The Commissioner of Police, Shetima Jauro-Mohammed, praised the police for their prompt response and professionalism.

He also reassured residents of the command’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property, urging the public to continue providing useful information to support crime-fighting efforts.
