The Oyo State Police Command has revealed that a personal assistant of former Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, allegedly collaborated with kidnappers who abducted his sister and her two children in Ibadan.

Police spokesperson, Olayinka Ayanlade, disclosed on Tuesday that preliminary investigations point to an insider role in the abduction, raising suspicions that someone close to the family may have assisted the crime.

According to the police, the suspect allegedly provided support to the kidnappers during the operation, which led to the abduction of Adelabu’s sister and her children in Ibadan, Oyo State.

“The investigation so far suggests an insider connection to the incident,” Ayanlade said, adding that detectives are working to reveal the full extent of the suspect’s involvement and identify other members of the kidnapping network.

The command said security operatives have intensified efforts to track down all those connected to the crime while continuing operations targeted at ensuring the victims’ safe rescue.

The police further assured residents that every available resource is being utilised to dismantle the criminal syndicate behind the abduction and bring all perpetrators to justice.

The development comes days after the kidnapping erupted widespread concern in Oyo State, with residents calling for stronger security measures to tackle rising cases of abduction and violent crime.

Authorities say investigations remain ongoing, and more details will be released as the operation progresses.
