The Government of Equatorial Guinea has resigned after falling short of its expected targets, Vice-President Teodoro Nguema Obiang Mangue announced on Tuesday.
Prime Minister Manuel Osa Nsue Nsua, who was appointed by President Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo in 2024, submitted the resignation of the entire cabinet after the administration achieved only about 10 per cent of its set objectives, according to the vice-president.

Nguema Obiang Mangue did not disclose the specific targets the government failed to meet.

The ruling Democratic Party of Equatorial Guinea (PDGE) said in a statement that the collective resignation was part of a broader government restructuring process to align the administration with new national priorities.
The party said the outgoing government had implemented initiatives in areas including public administration, infrastructure, public services and economic development during its tenure.
“The government’s collective resignation is part of the institutional reorganization processes that are periodically carried out in the country with the aim of adapting the government structure to the state’s new priorities,” the party said.
Equatorial Guinea, a major oil producer in Central Africa, has been led by President Obiang since 1979, making him the world’s longest-serving president.
