Nigerian President Bola Tinubu has said improved security and infrastructure are helping to restore normal life across Nigeria’s capital city, Abuja.
Tinubu, who was represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima at the inauguration of the Collector Road CN2 in Katampe District on Friday, said ongoing development projects are making communities in the capital city safer and more accessible.
The President linked the changes to governance efforts focused on improving transportation, security and residents’ quality of life within the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
“My fellow residents of Abuja, we did not stop at the road. We installed solar streetlights,” said Tinubu.
“Today, Katampe is safer at night. Abuja’s real life is coming back. Criminal hideouts are disappearing.”
He said the newly inaugurated road would strengthen connectivity between Katampe and Mabushi while linking both districts to key transport corridors in the city. According to Tinubu, the project aligns with the objectives of his administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda and reflects broader efforts to improve infrastructure nationwide.

“Indeed, this road is a testament to the Renewed Hope Agenda. Nigeria is working again,” Tinubu stated.
The President said the road would ease commuting challenges associated with traffic congestion, dust and deteriorating road conditions.
Tinubu maintained that the project demonstrated the government’s ability to deliver tangible benefits to citizens through targeted infrastructure investments.
He also commended FCT Minister Nyesom Wike for overseeing development projects in the territory, noting that the minister had met expectations since his appointment.
“Wike, you have not disappointed Nigerians. From abandoned roads to new boulevards,” he said.
Tinubu further praised Wike’s efforts in executing projects across multiple sectors, including transportation, water supply and the judiciary, adding that the minister’s performance reflected a commitment to advancing the development of the nation’s capital.
