President Bola Tinubu has praised the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, saying he has lived up to expectations in transforming Abuja into a modern capital city.
Tinubu, represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima, made the remarks on Friday during the commissioning of Collector Road CN2 (Emmanuel Okanla Boulevard) and other road projects in Katampe District, Abuja.
“When I gave him the assignment to make Abuja a true capital city, I knew his track record. Wike, you have not disappointed Mr President,” Tinubu said.
He praised Wike for turning abandoned roads into modern boulevards, delivering water projects and judicial quarters, and working tirelessly to improve infrastructure in the capital.
Also, the President said Wike’s efforts had earned him the nickname “Mr Project,” adding that the developments reflect the success of the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

Tinubu noted that the installation of solar-powered streetlights had improved security in Abuja, saying it had helped revive nightlife and economic activity.
“We have installed solar street lights, and today Katampe is bright at night. Abuja’s city life is coming back,” he added.
Wike, speaking on the Katampe road project, said it was designed to close infrastructure gaps and improve connectivity after earlier road works in the area.
“We identified the missing link and immediately moved to address it because infrastructure must be holistic,” he said.
He added that the project had already attracted investors and boosted real estate development in the area.
Wike went further to highlight ongoing efforts to extend infrastructure to satellite communities, including roads linking Tungan-Madaki, and announced that a water supply project in Karu would be commissioned on Monday.
