Ekiti State Deputy Governor, Monisade Afuye, has cast her vote in the ongoing governorship election, expressing confidence that Governor Biodun Oyebanji will secure victory. Afuye voted at her Atiba Aafin Ward 1, Polling Unit 003, in Ikere-Ekiti.
Speaking after voting, the deputy governor commended voters for turning out in large numbers, describing their participation as a demonstration of commitment to the democratic process.
She said reports from different parts of the state indicated similar voter enthusiasm, adding that the turnout reflected the impact of the campaigns conducted ahead of the poll.
“You can see for yourselves how people trooped out to participate in this election. Not only trooping out, but being ready and anxious to participate in the voting. I am indeed impressed with this conduct of our voters.

“I am not using Ikere as the only area of focus now, we are getting the same information from some of our local governments and towns about how our voters are coming out in large numbers. I am happy about this. This shows that the rigorous campaigns that we did yield positive results,” Afuye said.
Afuye also praised the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and security agencies for their preparation and conduct, noting that the peaceful atmosphere across polling units showed that voters were able to exercise their rights without intimidation.
“I have to commend INEC as well and our security agencies. They really prepared for this election. You can see that nobody is being intimidated and I believe if we continue like this, this election may turn out being the best in Ekiti history,” she said.
She expressed hope that the election would become one of the most peaceful and credible polls in Ekiti’s history.
On the expected outcome of the election, Afuye said Oyebanji’s performance in office had earned him widespread support and expressed confidence that the APC candidate would win by a significant margin.
