The 2026 Ekiti State governorship election holds today, Saturday, June 20, across the state’s 16 local government areas, with more than 1 million registered voters expected to decide whether Governor Biodun Oyebanji secures a second term or a new leader emerges.
Polling Unit 4 in Ikere-Ekiti has recorded an early turnout, with voters arriving at the polling centre ahead of accreditation and voting in today’s governorship election.
The atmosphere remained calm and orderly as voters queued patiently to participate in the exercise.


Meanwhile, accreditation is ongoing at Osolo Hall Polling Unit 003 as voters verify their details on the register before voting.



Accreditation and voting have also commenced at PU 1, Ward 9, Okeruku, Ikere-Ekiti.



Activities are also ongoing at the RAC Centre, Ikere-Ekiti, as the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) coordinates election materials and ad-hoc personnel for deployment to polling units across the area.


Across Ekiti State, electoral officials commenced preparations for voting in line with INEC guidelines, with security personnel on the ground to maintain order and ensure a peaceful process.
According to INEC, a total of 1,059,360 registered voters are eligible to participate in the election, which will be conducted across 2,445 polling units located in 177 wards. Voting is scheduled to commence at 8:30 a.m.
