Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has congratulated his Ekiti State counterpart, Biodun Oyebanji, on his decisive victory in the recently concluded governorship election in the state.
Adeleke, in a congratulatory message on Sunday, said the renewal of Oyebanji’s mandate at the poll reflected public confidence in his leadership.
The Osun governor described the landslide victory as a strong endorsement of the progress recorded during Oyebanji’s first term, adding that his re-election would give him more time to consolidate on ongoing development efforts.
“My congratulations to Governor Biodun Oyebanji on his decisive victory in the recently concluded governorship election in Ekiti State. The victory is a mark of acceptance of his leadership and confidence in him to deliver more progress for the state,” Adeleke said.
He added that the people of Ekiti had demonstrated their belief in continuity, expressing optimism that the governor’s second term would build on the achievements of his first.
The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) also congratulated Oyebanji, describing his victory as evidence of public support for continuity and good governance.
In a statement signed by its spokesperson, Kola Olabisi, the Osun APC said the result showed that the APC remained a dominant political force in the South-West.
The party said, “The re-election of Governor Oyebanji is an indication that the people of Ekiti have absolute confidence that the APC government is trusted, dependable, hardworking and preferable.”
It also added that the election outcome reflected the will of the people, while claiming it demonstrated the strength of the party in the region.
Meanwhile, APC chieftain in Osun, Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, said the victory in Ekiti would be replicated in the upcoming Osun governorship election scheduled for August 15, 2026.
He said the result was a validation of Oyebanji’s performance and proof of the party’s growing popularity.
Oyintiloye commended the APC leadership at national and state levels, as well as former Osun governor and current Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, for strengthening the party’s structure.
Oyebanji, the APC candidate, was declared winner by the Independent National Electoral Commission after polling 319,224 votes to defeat PDP candidate Wole Oluyede, who scored 40,543 votes.
