The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has warned land developers against illegal land grabbing in Abuja, saying unlawful structures will be demolished.

Wike made the remarks on Tuesday during the flag-off of the Southern Parkway (Saturn Parkway) collector road project in Gaduwa, as part of activities marking infrastructure commissioning under President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

Speaking at the event, Wike praised the progress of ongoing works but also issued a strong warning to officials in the Development Control Department, accusing some of failing to show up for duty.

“I have noticed with dismay that most of your directors do not come around,” he said, adding that absence from duty would not be tolerated.

The minister also directed the acting Director of Development Control, Dr Tpl. Sanusi Bashir Madaki, to step up enforcement against illegal construction and land encroachment.

“All these land grabbers that started to develop land that is not given to them… we will bring it down. Heaven will not fall,” Wike said.

He stressed that any building erected without proper allocation will be removed, insisting that due process must be followed in all land transactions.
