Nigerian singer-songwriter Spyro has said that talent alone is no longer sufficient for success in the music industry, arguing that virality has become a more important factor than musical ability.
The artist, whose real name is Oludipe Oluwasanmi David, made the comment on Wednesday during an interview on News Central’s entertainment programme, Take 3.
“Gone are the days when if you’re talented, that’s enough to make you successful. Right now, it’s about just 20 percent talent or 10 percent talent. Zero percent talent to be honest with you,” Spyro said.
“Some of the music that we have trending in the entertainment space right now are wack songs… now it’s zero talent, just find a way to be viral.”@spyro__Official says music success now depends more on virality than on talent alone.
