Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has commended security agencies for what he described as a “massive onslaught” against criminal elements, following the success of a coordinated security operation across Lagos and Ogun states, which led to the arrest of 88 suspects.
According to a statement issued by the Lagos State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, the operation, codenamed “Operation Kosaye,” also resulted in the rescue of five kidnapped victims, the death of four suspected criminals during a gun battle with security operatives, and the recovery of a cache of arms and ammunition.
The operation is a joint security crackdown involving law enforcement agencies in Lagos and Ogun states to dismantle kidnapping syndicates, armed robbery gangs and other violent criminal networks operating in the Southwest.
Hailing the operation, Sanwo-Olu pledged the Lagos State Government’s continued support for security agencies to sustain the fight against crime.

“We will continue to work with the police and other security agencies to ensure that our state is safe and secure for residents and visitors,” the governor said.
Sanwo-Olu also praised the Nigeria Police Force for the arrests made during the operation and acknowledged the collaboration between Lagos and Ogun states.
“We appreciate the huge efforts of the police as directed by Inspector-General Tunji Disu, in arresting the suspects and the co-operation of our neighbors, Ogun State. This is the way it should be,” he added.
According to the statement, security agencies have intensified their presence across both states, with the Lagos and Ogun State Police Commands displaying recovered weapons and parading suspects as part of efforts to send a strong warning to criminal groups.
The government said Operation Kosaye—meaning “no space for criminals”—represents a renewed offensive against violent crimes, particularly kidnapping and armed robbery. As part of the operation, security operatives are combing forest areas along the J3/J4 axis in Ogbere, Ogun State, near the Lagos-Ogun boundary, in search of fleeing suspects and criminal hideouts.
The police have also reiterated their commitment to ensuring that criminals, especially kidnappers, have no safe haven through intelligence-driven operations and sustained security efforts.
Sanwo-Olu also called on residents of Lagos to continue supporting security agencies by volunteering useful information that could lead to the arrest of criminal suspects.
He further assured that the state government would continue to support law enforcement agencies through the Lagos State Security Trust Fund.
