Nigerian athlete Tobi Amusan reinforced her status as one of the world’s top sprint hurdlers on Sunday after winning the women’s 100m hurdles at the Paris Diamond League with a season-best performance.

The world record holder clocked 12.28 seconds at the Stade Charléty to finish comfortably ahead of the field and claim another Diamond League victory.

The winning time matched Amusan’s season’s best, which she also recorded at the Xiamen and Rabat Diamond League meetings earlier this year.

The Paris meeting operated on a revised and shortened schedule after a severe heatwave swept across France, forcing organisers to cancel all lower-tier youth and regional club events.

Despite track temperatures reaching 32 degrees Celsius on Sunday afternoon, Amusan produced another composed and commanding display.

The 29-year-old made a strong start, cleared each hurdle cleanly and opened up a decisive lead midway through the race before cruising to victory.

The win strengthens Amusan’s momentum ahead of the Diamond League Final and sends a strong warning to her rivals as the post-season circuit approaches.
