Qatar has condemned Iran’s attack on Iraq’s Kurdistan Region, describing it as a violation of the country’s sovereignty and a breach of international law.
In a statement issued by its Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Qatar said the attack undermined the sovereignty of both Iraq and the Kurdistan Region and warned against actions that could further destabilise the Middle East.
“The State of Qatar strongly condemns the Iranian attack on Iraq’s Kurdistan Region, considering it a blatant violation of the sovereignty of the sisterly Republic of Iraq and the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, as well as a flagrant breach of the principles of international law,” the ministry said.
Qatar urged all parties to avoid actions that could deepen regional tensions, stressing that dialogue remained the only viable path to lasting peace and stability.

“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasises the necessity of sparing the region the repercussions of unjustified attacks, continuing the path of dialogue and diplomacy, and de-escalating tensions in a manner that contributes to fostering security and stability at both the regional and international levels,” the statement added.
The Gulf state also reaffirmed its support for Iraq and the Kurdistan Regional Government, pledging solidarity as they respond to the attack.
“The Ministry reiterates the State of Qatar’s full solidarity with Iraq and the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, as well as its support for all measures they take to safeguard their sovereignty and security,” the ministry said.
Qatar’s condemnation follows heightened tensions in the region, with growing international concern that cross-border military actions could further destabilise Iraq and intensify broader geopolitical conflicts.
