The Nigerian government has reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining its partnership with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) while pursuing ongoing fiscal and macroeconomic reforms aimed at restoring economic stability.
Senior officials, including Finance Minister Taiwo Oyedele and Central Bank Governor Olayemi Cardoso, expressed this commitment at a farewell dinner in Abuja honouring outgoing IMF Resident Representative Dr Christian Ebeke.
Oyedele praised Ebeke as a trusted partner who provided critical technical support on domestic revenue mobilisation, debt management, and foreign exchange policies throughout his three-year tenure.
Central Bank Governor Cardoso and Finance Ministry Director Stanley George emphasised that Ebeke’s practical approach helped strengthen trust and institutional credibility during a defining era of structural economic adjustments.

In response, Ebeke described his assignment as a privilege, commending the resilience of the Nigerian people and expressing confidence that continued reform efforts will position the country for long-term inclusive growth.
