Governor Otu Swears In Commissioners, Reshuffles Cabinet

Cross River State Governor Bassey Otu has sworn in two new commissioners and reshuffled six members of the State Executive Council as part of efforts to strengthen his administration and improve service delivery.

The governor announced the appointments and cabinet changes on Monday through his official Facebook page, saying the move is targeted at advancing his administration’s “People First” agenda.

The newly inaugurated commissioners are Ayuk Obi Afor, who will head the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture, and Dodeye Ikpi Arikpo, who was appointed Commissioner for Special Duties and Intergovernmental Relations.

Otu said the appointments are meant to boost governance and speed up development across the state. He also approved a cabinet reshuffle involving six commissioners to improve efficiency and align their experience with government priorities.

Under the changes, Anom Emmanuel Moses moves from the Ministry of Livestock, Aquaculture and Fisheries Development to the Ministry of Human Capital Development, while Ekpang Erasmus Ekpang leaves the Ministry of Information and Orientation for the Ministry of Lands.

Cobham Ekpenyong Ene has been redeployed from the Ministry of Transport to the Ministry of Information and Orientation, while Mensah Bassey Offiong moves from the Ministry of Water Resources to the Ministry of Environment.

Also, Kingsley N. Egumi has been reassigned from the Ministry of Human Capital Development to the Ministry of Transport, while Ekpenyong Francis Edet moves from the Ministry of Lands to the Ministry of Livestock, Aquaculture and Fisheries Development.

“These adjustments are aimed at aligning experience and expertise with the priorities of government as we continue to accelerate development across all sectors of our dear state,” Otu said.

The governor congratulated the newly appointed commissioners and those assigned to new portfolios, urging all members of the State Executive Council to remain focused on delivering quality governance.

“Together, we will continue to build a stronger, more prosperous Cross River where every citizen benefits from the dividends of good governance,” he added.
