Uba Sani Picks Jerry Adams as 2027 Running Mate

Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani has nominated the Executive Chairman of the Kaduna State Internal Revenue Service (KADIRS), Jerry Adams, as his running mate for the 2027 governorship election.

The governor announced Adams’ nomination on Tuesday, saying the decision followed extensive consultations, reflection and prayers.

“After wide consultations, deep reflection and earnest prayers, I am delighted to announce the nomination of Mr Jerry Adams, FCTI, FNIM, CNA, as my running mate in the 2027 Governorship Election,” Sani said in a statement shared on his X handle.

The choice of Adams marks the first time in seven years that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kaduna State has selected a Christian as its deputy governorship candidate, following the party’s Muslim-Muslim tickets in the 2019 and 2023 elections.

Sani said the nomination reflected his administration’s commitment to inclusion, fairness and equal representation across the state.

The governor described the decision as more than the selection of a deputy candidate, saying it represented the values that have guided his administration since assuming office in May 2023.

He said Adams was chosen based on his competence, integrity and record of public service.

Sani described the KADIRS chairman as an accomplished public servant and tax administrator whose leadership has helped strengthen Kaduna’s internally generated revenue through reforms focused on transparency, innovation and professionalism.

According to the governor, Adams’ contributions to improving the state’s fiscal capacity have supported investments in education, healthcare, infrastructure, agriculture and other key sectors.

The governor expressed confidence that the nomination would strengthen efforts towards building a united, peaceful and prosperous Kaduna State where merit and character remain central to leadership.

Adams is recognised for his role in tax administration and institutional reforms, and his nomination is expected to shape political discussions as parties prepare for the 2027 governorship election.

Further activities surrounding the formal presentation of the APC governorship ticket are expected to be announced ahead of the election.
