Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) President-elect Oyinkansola Badejo-Okusanya has met with President Bola Tinubu, with discussions centred on strengthening the association’s electoral process through technology and reforms.
Badejo-Okusanya spoke to journalists on Tuesday after the closed-door meeting at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, describing the discussion as encouraging.
She said President Tinubu congratulated her on becoming the first woman elected to lead the NBA, while both discussed the challenges associated with electronic voting and the use of technology in elections.
“He congratulated me on the victory. We talked about the challenges of electronic voting and technology, and we spoke about ways in which we can continue to improve our processes. It was very encouraging,” she said.

The NBA president-elect also said she is engaging members and stakeholders ahead of her inauguration at the end of August to strengthen unity within the association following the recent election.
“My swearing-in is not until the end of August. In the meantime, I continue to reach out to members and stakeholders so that we can work together to improve things, heal any hurt anyone has, and ensure that the NBA continues to fulfil its role to society,” she said.
She pledged to promote reconciliation and inclusiveness, assuring members that her administration would work to strengthen the association.
“Everything that needs to be done, I can assure members and the public that I will do. We’ll make sure that we unite ourselves and put our house in order,” she added.
Badejo-Okusanya is expected to be inaugurated as the NBA’s first female elected president at the end of August.
