Police Arrest One After Fatal Owerri Race

Imo State Police officers arrested a suspect following a fatal illegal street race that caused a severe crash near Imo State University (IMSU) in Owerri.

The high-speed collision killed one person and critically injured another, who is currently undergoing medical treatment.

Law enforcement teams maintain active efforts to track down and apprehend the remaining drivers who participated in the illegal race.

Police Public Relations Officer Henry Okoye confirmed the arrest to News Central TV and stated that detectives are investigating the full details of the crash.

He emphasised that the command will prosecute all culpable parties to the fullest extent of the law.

Okoye also urged residents to report illegal street racing and reckless driving to security agencies to prevent similar fatalities.
