Aondongu Appointed as Benue Police Spokesperson

Orchia Peter Aondongu has been appointed as the new Benue State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO).

He will oversee public communication and strengthen the command’s relations with the media.

His appointment was approved by the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Olatunji Rilwan Disu.

DSP Aondongu joined the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) after completing a five-year cadet training programme at the Nigerian Police Academy, Wudil, Kano State, where he obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting.

He was commissioned as an Assistant Superintendent of Police on December 19, 2019, and has served in several roles, including Divisional Crime Officer, Second-in-Command of the Commissioner of Police Crack Squad, Patrol and Guard Officer, and Deputy Police Public Relations Officer of the Benue Command.

Before his latest appointment, Aondongu served as the Divisional Police Officer of ‘C’ Division, North Bank, Makurdi.

The new PPRO has also attended professional training programmes, including the Combat Operations Course of the Mobile Police Force at ILA-ORAGUN, as well as media and public relations courses.

The Commissioner of Police in Benue State, CP Cletus C.N. Nwadiobu, congratulated Aondongu and expressed confidence in his ability to improve communication between the police and the public.

Nwadiobu said the appointment would help promote “timely, accurate and professional dissemination of information” while boosting public confidence in the command.

The Benue State Police Command urged residents and media organisations to continue supporting its efforts toward transparency, accountability, and effective service delivery.
