Amusan Wins Commonwealth Bronze

Nigeria’s Tobi Amusan won a bronze medal in the women’s 100m hurdles at the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games on Thursday, ending her reign as Commonwealth champion.

The 29-year-old, who won gold at the Gold Coast 2018 and Birmingham 2022 Games, crossed the finish line in 12.60 seconds to place third in the final.

Devynne Charlton of The Bahamas claimed the gold medal in 12.33 seconds, while Jamaica’s Megan Simmonds took silver with a time of 12.41 seconds.

Earlier in the day, Amusan had raised hopes of retaining her title after winning her heat in a wind-assisted 12.19 seconds – the fastest time ever recorded at the Commonwealth Games under any conditions, though the mark was not eligible for record purposes due to excessive wind assistance.

However, she could not replicate that performance in the final as Charlton and Simmonds finished ahead of her.

Despite falling short of a historic third straight Commonwealth title, the Nigerian extended her remarkable record at the Games by securing a third consecutive podium finish in the event.
