Bournemouth completed the signing of Portugal defender Antonio Silva from Benfica on Saturday in a deal worth a reported £25 million ($33 million).
The 22-year-old centre-back arrives as the club’s second signing of the week following Elche forward Alvaro Rodriguez.
Silva fills the vacancy in the Cherries’ defence created by Marcos Senesi’s recent free transfer to Tottenham.

The Portugal defender leaves Lisbon after making 235 senior appearances and securing six major honours with Benfica.

Silva, who has earned 20 caps for Portugal and appeared at both the 2022 World Cup and Euro 2024, expressed his enthusiasm for playing in the Premier League and promised fans his best effort for the upcoming season.
