The Judicial Commission of Inquiry into the abduction of schoolchildren and teachers in Oriire Local Government Area has invited residents and stakeholders to submit written memoranda, setting a deadline of August 14 for all submissions.
Commission secretary Olamide Tella announced the call for evidence in a public notice issued on Saturday, outlining the scope of information required by the panel.
The commission is seeking details on the events leading up to and surrounding the May 15 attack, the abduction itself, and the developments that followed.
It also wants information on the security situation in the affected communities before, during and after the incident, as well as any actions or inactions that may have enabled the crime.
The panel is also requesting accounts of how authorities, institutions, community members and individuals responded to the abduction, along with any suggestions for preventing similar incidents in the future.
Those submitting memoranda are required to include their full names and contact details, and may attach supporting documents where applicable.
Submissions can be delivered in person to the commission’s secretariat at the Conference Room, Office of the Head of Service, Oyo State Secretariat, Agodi, Ibadan.
They can also be sent via email to [email protected].
“All memoranda must be submitted on or before August 14,” it read.
Governor Seyi Makinde inaugurated the commission on Friday, tasking it with investigating the incident and recommending measures to strengthen school safety.
The attack on May 15 saw gunmen abduct pupils and teachers from three schools in Esiele and Yawota communities.
A teacher, Michael Oyedokun, was killed during the assault. The victims were freed on July 10 after spending 56 days in captivity.
